Privacy Policy
GrabNConvert is a desktop app that downloads, converts and compresses media on your own computer. This policy explains the little we store about you, why, and what we never see. It covers the app and the website at grabnconvert.com.
The short version
- Your media files, links, download history and settings stay on your computer. We never receive them.
- To use the app you sign in. We store your email address, your name and picture if you sign in with Google, and a short list of the computers you use the app on.
- We use this only to run your account: the free trial, your plan, and the limit on how many computers one account can use.
- No advertising, no analytics trackers, no selling or sharing of data.
1. What stays on your computer
Everything the app works on is processed locally: the files you convert or compress, the media you download, the job queue and history, your settings, saved presets, the watch folder, and the diagnostic log. None of this is sent to us. The app connects to the internet only to fetch media from a link you provide, to check for component updates when you ask it to, and to talk to the account service described below.
2. What we store about your account
| Data | Where it comes from | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | You, or your Google account | Identifies your account; lets you sign in and recover access |
| Name and profile picture | Your Google account (only if you sign in with Google) | Shown to you in the app and on the account page |
| Plan, trial start and end dates | Created when you first sign in | Runs the 7-day trial and, later, your paid plan |
| Computers using the account | The app, when you sign in on it | Enforces the limit of computers per account and lets you remove one |
| Sign-in sessions | Created when you sign in | Keeps you signed in; revoked when you sign out |
For each computer we store a random identifier the app generates, the computer's name as set in your operating system, the operating system type, the app version and when it was last used. We do not collect hardware serial numbers or fingerprints.
When you sign in from the website to the app, a short one-time code is created; only a hash of it is stored, and it is deleted after two minutes.
If you switch on Send error reports in the app's Settings (it is off by default), a failed job sends us the app version, platform, the kind of job, its stage and the error text with folders and links removed, so we can fix it. File names and full links are never included; switch it off at any time.
3. Where it is stored and who processes it
Account data is stored with Supabase (database and sign-in service) in a project we control. Sign-in with Google is provided by Google; we receive only your email, name and picture, and we never see your Google password. The website is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs (IP address, time, page requested) for a short time to operate the service. Emails with sign-in codes are sent through our email provider. These companies act as processors on our behalf and under their own security commitments.
4. What we do not do
- We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone for marketing.
- We do not run analytics or advertising trackers in the app or on the website.
- We do not read or store the links you download or the files you process.
- We do not send marketing email. You receive email only for sign-in codes, important account notices, and receipts if you buy a plan.
5. Payments
If paid plans are offered, payment is handled by Paddle.com, our online reseller and merchant of record. Your card details go to Paddle, never to us. We receive confirmation of the purchase and the email address it was made with, so we can activate your plan.
6. How long we keep data
Account data is kept while your account exists. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile, your computer list and your sessions within 30 days; backups expire within a further 30 days. Sign-in codes are deleted after two minutes. Server logs are kept for a short period by the hosting provider.
7. Your rights
You can see and manage your data at any time on the account page: your details, your plan and your computers, including removing any computer and signing out everywhere. You can ask us to export or delete your account by emailing support@grabnconvert.com from the address on the account. Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under local law, such as the right to object or to complain to a supervisory authority; we will honour them.
8. Children
GrabNConvert is not directed at children under 13 (or the age of digital consent where you live), and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
9. Security
Account data is transmitted over encrypted connections and protected by database access rules that let each account read only its own records. Sign-in uses one-time codes and short-lived tokens; the app never handles your Google password. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your email account safe, since it controls access to your GrabNConvert account.
10. Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we will post the new version here with a new effective date and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or by email.
